Under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al-Abdullah Al-Thani, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, inaugurated on Wednesday the ninth edition of the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by H.H. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Finance, H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of QC, and H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Businessmen Association.
Also present at the opening were QC’s First Vice-Chairman, H.E. Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, Second Vice-Chairman H.E. Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, , along with many board members and general manager Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, and many board members. Additionally, there was a crowd of businessmen interested in the industry and representatives from various companies.
The four-day exhibition is organized by the Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and is supported by various sponsoring companies and institutions, with the participation of 450 companies and factories.
Following the inauguration, HH the Minister of Commerce and Industry, HH the Minister of Finance and QC Chairman toured the pavilions at the exhibition, where they were briefed about the participating companies and their products.
Additionally, they witnessed the inauguration of the Gizaz Glass Container Company under the Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company. The factory specializes in the production of glass containers used in the packaging of water, soft drinks, dairy products, and various foodstuffs.
In statements, Qatar Chamber Chairman, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his generous patronage of the expo. He stressed that HH the Amir’s patronage of the expo in all editions demonstrates HH the Amir’s interest in the industry and its role in the state’s inclusive development.
HE Sheikh Khalifa also thanked HH the Minister of Commerce and Industry for opening the exhibition, praising the Ministry’s cooperation in organizing the event and supporting the Qatari industry in general. He also highlighted its role in resolving all obstacles facing the private sector, allowing it to fulfill its desired role in economic development.
Furthermore, he highlighted the broad participation of local companies in the expo, which reached 450 companies and factories interested in showcasing their products and services to the business community and visitors.
HE also stressed that this significant participation also reflects the keen interest of local companies to promote their products in the local market with the aim to achieve the desired self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imports.
HE Sheikh Khalifa highlighted the diversity of industries participating in the exhibition, spanning six sectors, including petrochemicals, furniture, foodstuffs, SMEs, services, and various others. He noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity to become acquainted with the latest products and services in the industry sector
Participants will have the chance to engage with industry experts and investors, become acquainted with successful companies operating in the state, and understand their capacity for developing businesses and enhancing competitiveness.
The QC Chairman called on businessmen, investors interested in the industry, and company representatives to visit the exhibition, learn about Qatari products, and meet Qatari manufacturers. He affirmed that the expo also serves as a platform for bilateral meetings between Qatari investors and their foreign counterparts, facilitating deal-making and fostering alliances and partnerships in the industrial sector.
Al Sharqi: MIQ reflects the development in industry year after year
Qatar Chamber General Manager and Chairman of the Made in Qatar Organizing Committee Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi said that the 9th edition of the MIQ exhibition which was inaugurated today by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al-Abdullah Al-Thani, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, reflected the development achieved by Qatari companies and factories year after year.
He expressed his deep thanks to the Minister of Commerce and Industry for opening the event.
Al Sharqi noted that the exhibition featured a wide range of companies and factories that achieved significant development within the past few years thanks to the great support of the Wise Leadership and the advanced infrastructure established by the state, in addition to a host of legislation and laws that streamlined the establishment of factories and provided a lot of incentives and advantages for investors in the industry sector,
He highlighted that the expo reflected the development made in the industrial sector year after year.
Al Sharqi invited all companies and businessmen in the state to visit the exhibition to learn about Qatari products across six sectors.
He also revealed that the expo’s accompanying events will include panel sessions addressing the industry sector and other topics introduced by several bodies such as QatarEnergy, QDB, Qatar Airways, Qatar Free Zone, Katara Hospitality, Qatar Exchange and Invest Qatar.
He noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity for businessmen and foreign investors to gain insights into Qatar’s industrial sector and the investment opportunities available in this sector.
It also serves as a platform for bilateral meetings between Qatari investors and their foreign counterparts, facilitating deal-making, and fostering alliances and partnerships in the industrial sector.
